I reserved to use the vinyl cutter today at Iso Omena library. There was no one at the Paja. After waiting I made enquiry and a personnel came in. I clearly mentioned to the person that i am new to this and I do not know how to use it. The person just gave an overall idea which was already available as 'directions to use' in paper format. The person went away asking me to press the kutsu button for further help.
I tried a little and could not figure out how to get the needed content. Tried the kutsu button but no one came to help.
What is the point of this type of service? Very costly machines are left around without no monitoring or providing any kind of help!!! Wasted my time trying to learn something new!!

Hello and thank you for your feedback.
I’m very sorry if you felt that you wasted your time.
We have 5 Makerspaces (Paja) in the biggest Libraries in Espoo. They are mainly for self service use. We have instructions on paper in Finnish, Swedish and English. That is the concept of “learn by doing and trying”. We show the space and the instructions to the customer. Sometimes if the day is peaceful, we might have more time to show how the machines work, but especially at the weekends it’s busy and we don’t have enough personnel to do that.
Usually for a new customer we recommend to take a friend with you, so it is easier to figure things out together.
But good news! On Fridays at the Entresse library Paja we have staff who help with the machines at 4pm-6pm. Maybe you can go there? After some tips I’m sure you manage forward.
Maybe in the future we have these happenings more, but at the moment only in Entresse.
Here is the link to the next Friday happening in Finnish: Paja tutuksi kaikille! | Helmet
Welcome!
